오, 그대는 이른 새벽녘의 저 빛을 보라.
황혼의 마지막 광휘에 환호하는 우리들의 긍지가
위험한 전쟁 속에서도 광대한 선으로 빛나는 별들과
저 성벽 너머로 찬란히 빛나는 것을.
창공에서 분주한 포탄과 탄환의 붉은 저 섬광들은
밤새 우리의 깃발이 휘날리는 증거라.
오, 휘날리는 성조기는
자유와 용맹의 땅에서 휘날리는가!

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

저 깊은 안개 속에서 희미하게 보이는 해안에는
거만한 적군도 말없이 두려움 속에 쉬고 있네.
드높이 치솟은 절벽 위로 산들바람에 휘날리는 저 모습이
반쯤 가려진 모습을 드러내고 휘날리네.
이제 아침의 첫 광휘에 휩싸인
찬란한 영광 속 한 줄기 저 빛이여,
우리의 성조기여, 영원토록 휘날리네.
자유와 용맹의 땅에서 휘날리리라!

3절
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
3절
폐허된 전쟁터와 전쟁의 혼란 속에서
큰 맹세로 노래하던 저 음악대는 어디에서
이제 더 이상 고향과 조국을 떠나지 말 것을!
그들의 피로 사악한 자신의 발자국을 씻어냈도다.
노예 된 자가 어딜 가도 피하지 못하는 것은
패배와 공포와 무덤의 빛이라.
그리고 승리 속의 성조기는
자유와 용맹의 땅에서 휘날리리라!
 
4절
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

자유인은 어디서나
사랑하는 고향과 황량한 전쟁터에서나
하늘이 구한 이 땅의 승리와 평화로 축복받으리.
우리에게 조국을 지켜 준 저 힘을 찬양하라.
우리는 정당한 대의로 승리했으니
그리고 하느님 안에 우리의 믿음이 있음을 표어로 하여
그리고 승리 속의 성조기는
자유와 용맹의 땅에서 휘날리리라!
