뒤척이며 꾼 꿈 속에서 난 홀로 걸었어 자갈이 깔린 좁은 길을 따라..

가로등 불빛의 후광 아래서 난 추위와 습기를 막으려 옷깃을 세웠지

네온 등의 불빛 때문에 찌르듯이 눈부셨어

그 불빛은 밤의 침묵의 소리를 깨뜨려 버리고 어루만져 주었지

And no one dare disturb

적나라한 불빛 속에서 나는 만명...어쩌면
더 많은 사람들을 보았지
사람들은 무의미하게 그냥 떠들어 대고 있고,
사람들은 귀를 기울여 듣지 않고 그저 건성으로 듣고 있고,
인간의 노래 아닌 노래라고 만들고 있어.
그리고 아무도 감히 그 침묵의 소리를 깨뜨리지 못했어

But my words like silent raindrops fell
and echoed in the wells of silence

 내가 말했지. " 바보들...당신들은 침묵이 마치
암처럼 퍼지는 것을 몰라...
교훈이 될지도 모르는 내 말을 들어봐
너희들에게 다가 갈지도 모르는 내 팔을 잡아봐
하지만 내 말은 소리 없이 내리는 빗방울처럼
침묵의 샘 안에 떨어져 메아리 쳤어

사람들은 스스로 만든 네온 신에게
절하고 기도했어
그리고 그 네온이 만들어 내는 문구에
경고의 메시지가 빛났지
거기엔 이렇게 쓰여 있었지
"예언자의 말씀은 지하철 벽에 그리고
빈민가의 벽에 적혀있다"
그리고 
침묵의 소리에 속삭였지
